Sanma season has set in this year, too. Sanma is saury in English. Well, sanma is available in supermarket and restaurant all year around. But many of sanma except now is frozen meat. Today, I found fresh sanma was 350 yen per one and frozen sanma was 300 yen per two at the supermarket. 😛 Getting sanma at supermarket and eating it at home is good. But we can eat fresh sanma at Tsukiji !
I heard that Yonehana (米花) often serve grilled salted sanma this season, so I expected that I could eat it and went to there. As my expectation, When I got to Yonehana and asked the waiter , “What is today’s chef’s choice ?” and he answered, “Sanma, Grilled salted sanma !”
Finally, I could eat sanma at Yonehana !! Three years have passed since I visited Yonehana for the first time ! This was the first time to eat sanma at Yonehana ! I hadn’t seen such a fatty and thick sanma !! Its fat was sweet naturally. I didn’t need any soy sauce though I always put soy sauce on my grilled salted sanma. Unfortunately, this picture can’t tell you how thick and huge this sanma was !
And steamed chicken and boiled asparagus. Nice green ! Those asparagus was long ! But, I like eating asparagus with mayonnaise, not wasabi ! Why wasabi !
At first, there was just rice in the bowl. But the waiter came straight up to me with yakitori in plastic container and put those yakitori on my rice with saying “I made your rice yakitori bowl !” I heard that Yonehana couldn’t get good chickens suit yakitori for a long while and they finally could get them and cooked yakitori. So he seemed to be very glad.
This yakitori bowl was terrific. The grilled salted sanma was terrific. So, the asparagus, steamed chicken and pickled vegetable was in a state of neglect. (Though those were tasty, too) I eventually couldn’t eat up them because I was over-full.
