Taste of Kanazawa
We had dinner a this shop. Taisyu-Kappou Ozeki near Korinbo.
It was around 7 p.m. Almost all seats were occupied.
My drink was Japanese sake. Of course, Ozeki (大関) 🙂
This shop’s name is deprived from “Ozeki” that is Japanese sake because they have been serving this sake since thay started their business.
When they started their business, “Ozeki” was unfamiliar with people yet, though now it is very popular sake.
This shop serve local foods and seafood caught around Kanazawa.
Chicken’s Jibuni (かしわのじぶ煮)
Boiled chicken meat seasoned with miso and so on. It was rather sweet, but it had light taste and was tasty. It had mild taste. Wasabi went with those foods well.
We wanted to eat Kobako crab, but its season had already finished. So, we ordered Snow crab (ずわいがに, current price) instead. It was so fresh and sweet.
Though we don’t know its price, the lady said to us that it was as same as the price of Kobako crab (around 2500 yen).
Brown meats. Much brown meat and the white meat was sweet ! Kanazawa have splendid crab all the same !
Grilled blackthroat seaperch with salt (のどぐろの塩焼き, 2300 yen -)
It is expensive fish and special treats for people who live in Kanto region. So fatty fish. Fine bones were crisp.
Last, we ordered it. Oden. This shop is proud of their Kanazawa-style oden.Especially this shop serve oden all year around.
I think the soup is not differ from Kanto-style, but ingredients are characteristic.
We wanted to eat “Kani-men”. Kani-men is Kobako crab’s oden. “Kani” means crab and “men” is face. The chef set crabs meat and eggs on the face shell, Kobako crab is specialty of Ishikawa.
We wanted to eat it, but as I said, serving Kobako crab had already finished.
We heard that Kobako crab appear from October to end of December in the market in Kanazawa.
And Kuruma-fu, whelk. They had them in stock, so we ordered it.
Huge fu absorbed in plenty of soup 🙂 Delicious. Of course, they have standard ingredients that I love ! Daikon radish and egg !
Kuruma-fu (車麩, 130 yen),fish cake (かまぼこ, 130 yen), ebi-ten (えび天, 160 yen), egg (たまご, 120 yen), shinoda-maki (しのだ巻き, 320 yen), daikon radish (大根, 300 yen) and whelk (梅貝, 500 yen)
No.1 was simmered daikon radish all the same 🙂
Kanazawa is yummy 🙂
