Kyoto : Autumn leaves in Kyoto Imperial Park (京都御所)

Imperial park dressed in Autumn leaves.

I had wanted to visit Kyoto Imperial Palace for a long time. But it’s hard to reserve because reservation is always full.
But I had misunderstanding.
That I had wanted to visit for a long time is Imperial park. Not Imperial palace.
Of course, I also want to visit the palace.

Reservation in advance is required for entering the palace. But the park can be visited at anytime without reservation.

Imperial palace is located in the park. The gate was closed because it was early in the morning when I visited there.

By the way, I said “reservation is required for entering the palace” now. But we can enter the palace without reservation from last year. When I visited there last year, I didn’t know that. How regrettable !

But the park is vast. I should prepare half day for viewing the park.

Entrance, Kyoto Imperial palace (Marutamachi)

See this map. Kyoto imperial park is located between two subway stations 🙂
So, many people pass through the park.

This park was decorated with Autumn leaves as well as Kiyomizudera temple. Though many leaves were fallen because of long rainfall. But red and yellow wet carpet was enough beautiful.

And the park have Itsukushima Jinja shrine.
It is dedicated to mother of Kiyomori Tairano.

It had solemn atmosphere around there.

Admission fee of Kyoto Imperial park and palace is free.
Imperial household agency prepare English website.

The park was great as expected. and I want to enter the palace next time 🙂
