Exploring Old and cheap town is fun !
We planed to go to Keisei-Tateishi to eat popular chickens karaage at Torifusa the other day. And our plan was gone on at Saturday.
Keisei-Tateishi’s shopping and drinking street was built up based on postwar black market.
Whole town of Keisei Tateishi is like Important Cultural Property. There’re many old stand-up-drinking shops.
It is really valuable !!!!!
Torifusa. It is the entrance for eatery. The store is another side. They also sells fresh meats.
I’m worried about whether this old wooden house can be withstood fire and quake…
As soon as the door’s open, the elder waitress took us into the eatery.
Menu. Foods and drinks. That’s all.
As per her instructions, we sat down from the interior in order.
This eatery is so small and there is no space to put our bags. We put our bags under the table in forcefully. Also we took our umbrella with us and put them also under the table or between the wall and us 😛 (Probably there’s umbrellas stand anywhere for wet umbrellas)
First of all, we ordered our drinks. Two of us, including me ordered beer (ビール, 580 yen).
If you order something alcoholic drinks, otoshi (as charge) came.
Boiled chickens skin with soy sauce. It is simple one. But it was so tasty.
I felt like eating it with rice 😛 As you see, soooo fatty !!!
By the way, everyone have to order one chickens karaage per one.
When the ordering, the elder waitress asked us “Which size?”. There were three sizes of chickens karaage. She said the three prices as the sizes.
We ordered the smallest one.
If you can’t eat it up, you can take it away. Also we can order chickens karaage to bring it to home.
But that day, they were so busy that they couldn’t accept orders for taking them away. When the telephone rang for order the chickens, she said “It’ll take two hours !!!!!”
We ordered something another karaage.
The waitress said the karaage need much time to be cooked.
At first, pickled vegetables (お新香, 300 yen). We ordered two portions and this come two. Those were a little large for four people 😛
Toriwasa (鳥わさ, 550 yen)
The surface was cooked and its inside was raw. Wit wasabi 🙂
It had springy texture and it was fresh.
Ponzu sashi (ぽんずさし, 550 yen)
The sauce flavored with ponzu and red pepper was so tasty 🙂
And last. Our karaage (若鳥唐揚, 600 yen) came. (That’s mine ! We had one karaage each !)
The smallest size was big enough !!!
I heard that children around Tateishi grow up with the karaage !
Well, there’s family with small children in front of us.They are also growing up with it !
The chickens’ legs are fried deeply. It have fatty parts, lean meat, well-muscled meat near bones etc … it have variety of taste and texture depending on parts.
Sometimes the elder waitress cut your chickens to eat easily, but that day, the staffs were so busy and she couldn’t help us.
So, we struggled to cut our meat 😛 Though we went to there with four person, everyone cut the chicken and ate mutely 😛
And eating the cabbage with ponzu sashi’s sauce was good !!!!!
I wanna go there again 🙂 Also, Uchida !!!!
