Kakiage having plenty of medium rare scallop !
I spent my lunch hour for eating tempura at Tempura Kurokawa in Tsukiji.
They serve four courses and six species of tendon at lunchtime.
I remember that I ate tempura set at Kurokawa the beginning of this year. It was good.
And also they serve some species of tendon (tempura bowl) at lunchtime, too.
So, I decided to eat tendon before leaving my office. Tendon bowl can be eaten more quickly. So, it’s good for lunch in the intervals between working.
Kurokawa stand along the narrow street and is also in front of my favorite Motodane close to Kachidoki bridge.
Speaking of tempura in Tsukiji, we remember Tenfusa within the market, Choseian and this Kurokawa.
Those three restaurants are good 🙂
(Choseian is soba restaurant, but they serve splendid tempura)
But I think Kurokawa’s tempura is the most gracious among those three restaurants.
Kurokawa is so small restaurant. There’re only four counter seats and two tables having four seats each.
Of course, we have to share the tables during busy time.
If you are seated at the counter seats, you can enjoy viewing the chef cooking tempura.
I ordered a kakiage bowl (かきあげ丼, 1500 yen) and it was served in five minutes or so.
All tendon have miso soup and pickled vegetables.
Normally, we know “kakiage” have much vegetables like onions, carrots and so on with only a few small prawns.
But this Kurokawa’s kakiage contains so much scallops ! And with a few small prawns.
Well, it’s the Tsukiji style ! Those scallops were fried deeply but quickly, so those were medium rare and tasted very sweet.
And the sauce wasn’t sweet and the coatings remained crunchy.
I haven’t met such a kakiage ever !
I want to try tendon having prawn tempura next time 🙂
As I said now, it was so small restaurant and there’s no space to put large baggage and if you have bigger body, you might feel uncomfortable because the chairs and tables are small. I recommend the counter seats better than tables because intervals between seats are wide.
They are open at dinner time, too. But reservation is required in advance.
Maybe it is closed if they don’t have reservation.
